Dr. Willoughby is originally from Buffalo, New York.
He moved to Los Angeles with his family in the late
70's. After attending Loyola High School of Los
Angeles, Dr. Willoughby attended UCLA and graduated with
a bachelor of sciences degree in psychobiology. He
obtained his medical degree from the DREW-UCLA School of
Medicine where he was awarded the Mitchell Spellman Gold
Medal for achievement. Dr. Willoughby completed a
surgical internship at USC/L.A. County General Hospital
and his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Charles
Drew/Martin Luther King Jr. Orthopaedic Surgical
Residency Program.
Dr. Willoughby completed a research fellowship in
biochemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology under Dr. Cato Laurencin. He then
completed a fellowship in sports medicine and foot and
ankle surgery in Los Angeles.
Dr. Willoughby participates in the care of high school
athletes through Team Heal and Team to Win. His
goal is to provide the young athlete with excellent care
on and off the field. Dr. Willoughby is an army
reservist; he has been called to active duty twice to
use his skills as an orthopedist to care for the USA
military. He looks forward to providing your
orthopedic care.
